Holidays to Corfu

The emerald island of Corfu nestles off the west coast of the Greek mainland. The island is 36 miles long and at its widest part, the North, 15 miles wide.  Even during the hot dry summers, Corfu remains one of the greenest of the Mediterranean islands with over 3 million evergreen olive trees, watered by winter rains.

Corfu's diverse coastline offers beaches that range from glorious sweeps of golden sand and bustling seaside resorts to enchanting white-pebbled coves. Inland the scenery is spectacular and there is an abundance of charming traditional villages where you still encounter donkeys, occasional traditional costume and of course the gloriously lazy pace of life Greece is so famous for.

Corfu is a beautiful and popular Greek island and our holidays to Corfu will suit both families and couples alike. With a wealth of natural beauty, a rich culture that spans centuries and a gentle magnetic appeal it is easy to see what draws people back year after year. Corfu has an immensely long and chequered history. Renowned as a place of beauty, culture and hospitality since ancient times, Corfu plays her part in many ancient myths and legends.

According to Greek mythology, the island got its name from the daughter of the river god Asopos, Nymph Korkyra, who was carried away by Poseidon. In Homer's Odyssey we read that Odysseus found shelter here in Corfu at the end of his wanderings and received the care of King Alkinoos and his people Pheaces and his daughter Nafsika.
